Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary, Bellary

Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Bellary district of Karnataka. Named after the kings of Vijayanagar Empire, the private sanctuary is maintained by the Association for the Preservation of the Environment based in Hyderabad. Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary boasts of a unique terrain of flora, fauna and is located near Bellary.

Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary protects leopards, wolves, peacocks, pythons, bears, hyenas, deer, monkeys like langur and rhesus, porcupines, crocodiles, wild bear, anteaters and a variety of plants and other animals.

Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary: Nearby Attractions

Jenukallu Gudda: Located at a distance of 17 kms from Yellapur, Jenukallugudda is a sunset point – Jenukal Gudda or Jenukallu Gudda- that offers a panoramic view of the hills set beside one another. Three hills are located in the same location which is at a high altitude; it is worth a visit for the mesmerizing beauty of the sunset. When you visit Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary do not forget to add this to your itinerary.

Kavadi Kere: Kavadi Kere is at a distance of 9 kms in the Western Ghats. It is a lake with an ancient temple. The picturesque lake is spread over an area of 62 acres and there is a wide variety of birds fluttering in and around the area. One can sight giant sized butterflies and variety of wild orchids in this area. There is an ancient temple dedicated to the Goddess Durgadevi, located beside this lake. If you are a natural buff, this is place is must visit when you come to Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary.

Bellary Airport is the nearest airport to the Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary. The airport is connected to Bangalore airport.

By Rail

Bellary is well connected by rail with various cities such as Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore.  From Bellary railway station you can avail a taxi to reach Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary

By Road

Bellary is on NH 63 (Ankola Gooty) and is well connected to all cities across the State. Private and public transport facilities can be availed to reach Deva Raya Wildlife Sanctuary from Bellary’s main bus station.
