The Gruhalakshmi Scheme of the Karnataka government focuses on women’s empowerment, giving financial support to the woman who heads a household. Gruhalakshmi Scheme Eligibility Criteria

• Only one woman per family can benefit from the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme.
• Married, widowed, divorced, or deserted women can apply.
• Neither the applicant nor her husband should be an income tax payer or GST filer.
• Women government employees are not eligible.
• Beneficiaries of similar central or state welfare schemes cannot apply.

Latest Update On Gruha Lakshmi Scheme (2026–27)

The Karnataka government has ordered a fresh re-verification for the Gruhalakshmi Scheme of all existing beneficiaries through biometric and facial authentication, which began in late August 2026 and is being carried out over roughly a month. This is being done through door-to-door visits and at Grama One, Karnataka One, Bengaluru One, and Bapuji Seva Kendras, using an app built by the Directorate of Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services.

During the visit, beneficiaries get a printed enumeration form, their photo is taken, and their home’s GPS location is recorded. Anyone missed during the household visit can complete biometric verification at their Fair Price Shop or the nearest Karnataka One, Grama One, or Bengaluru One centre. The drive is meant to weed out deceased, migrated, duplicate, or otherwise ineligible entries, including cases where a beneficiary or her husband has since started filing income tax or GST returns. Beneficiaries are advised to complete this verification promptly to avoid interruption in monthly payments.
