The Karnataka government is currently running a door-to-door re-verification drive for existing Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries to update records on the Seva Sindhu portal. This is carried out in person by ESCOM meter readers — it cannot be done online or at Bangalore One, Karnataka One, or Grama One centres, and there’s no fee involved.

Important: The deadline for completing this verification has been extended from 31 August 2026 to 30 September 2026. Beneficiaries who haven’t yet been visited should keep their Aadhaar, electricity account details, and voter ID ready and cooperate with the visiting staff. Note that new registrations for the scheme itself remain open year-round with no fixed last date — this 30 September deadline applies specifically to the ongoing re-verification exercise, not to fresh applications.

Benefits continue uninterrupted during verification, and the free-unit entitlement (based on average 2022-23 consumption plus 10%) stays unchanged.
