How To Apply For Caste And Income Certificates In Karnataka?

This is the admission season. From this year onward, the central government notified 10% of the reservation for students from the economically weaker section of society in many central institutes.

To avail of the reservation and any government scholarship scheme, you must produce your caste and income certificates.

In this article, we discuss how to apply for caste and income certificates in Karnataka.

Caste And Income Certificates In Karnataka – Who Issues The Certificates

These two certificates are issued by the revenue department of the Government of Karnataka. The same certificates are valid for the central government schemes, too.

How To Apply For Caste And Income Certificates In Karnataka

Offline Application

The first step to applying for these two certificates is to visit the Nadakacheri or Atalji Janasnehi Kendra. Earlier, `Nemmadi’ centres used to disburse these certificates, but now that responsibility has been handed over to Nadakacheri offices, which are popularly called the Atalji Janasnehi Kendra.

Online Application

Visit nadakacheri.karnataka.gov.in to apply online. The cyber operator in Nadakacheri will collect all the new applications. The operator has been provided to collect the application submitted in cyber centers other than Nadakacheri.

Issuing Of Caste And Income Certificates – Process

After collecting all the applications, the cyber operator in NadaKacheri will hand over all the completed applications to the Revenue Inspector (RI). Once the verification by the revenue inspector is completed, the applications will be handed over to the caseworker.

Finally, a caseworker will submit all these applications to the Tahsildar at the taluk headquarter. After verification Tahsildar will do digital signature on the certificate.

The applicant can collect his caste certificates in Nadakacheri. The applicant can check the status of the application on the Nadakacheri website. All this process should be completed within 21 days.

Caste And Income Certificates Application – Documents Required

  • Voter ID card
  • Aadhar
  • Ration card
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the school
  • Salary slip of family members or a tax payment receipt is mandatory for completing the form.

For an online application, all the supporting documents to be uploaded should be in PDF format, and the size of the file should be less than 2MB.

Payment Options

A candidate has to pay a fixed amount towards the certificate. The amount can be paid even through internet banking and card payment.

Tips To Fill Up The Application

The following steps are to be followed while entering the details in the application.

  • An applicant should mention his/her name and date of birth
  • The applicant should mention the reason for the caste certificate such as education or Job
  • Caste and category of the candidate should be mentioned
  • Candidate should mention the annual income of his family

Caste and income certificates will be issued to eligible candidates who come under reservation and belongs to the economically weaker section.

How To Check The Status Of The Application?

With the help of acknowledgment number, you can check the status of his application or reasons for rejection. You can check the status on www.nadakacheri.karnataka.gov.in

Rejection Of Applications – Things To Know

Tahsildar has all the power to accept or reject the certificate. If s/he finds any misappropriation or any faults he can reject the certificate or he can recommend to submit the file after making necessary changes.

Typically, the application can be rejected due to: 

  • Incomplete information provided during the application request
  • Insufficient supportive documents provided

In case of application rejection, an applicant can complain to the Deputy Commissioner, assistant commissioner, or Commissioner of survey Settlement and land records.

The applicant can resubmit the application with repayment of service charges. In the event of any delay in the issue of the certificate, the local Tahsildar office can be contacted.

As per the Karnataka Guarantee Of Services to Citizens – (KGSC), the caste and income certificate delivery has been brought under the Sakala Scheme. This means, within 21 days, the concerned agency must issue the certificate or reject it if it found documents are not proper.

Time To Taken To Process Caste And Income Certificate Application  

The government agencies take two to three weeks’ time to issue fresh caste certificates as it involves the field visit and the document verification.

Many times, students cannot get the benefit of the caste and income certificate benefits as they cannot furnish the documents on time. So the best way to avoid such problems is by applying for the certificates at the earliest.

  2. Living certificate
  3. Widow certificate
  4. Residence certificate
  5. Agricultural family member certificate
  6. Landless certificate
  7. No re-marriage certificate
  8. Physically handicap certificate
  9. Certificate to avail of various Social Security Schemes
  10. Unemployment certificate 

Fill out the applications carefully and submit them at the earliest so that you will have the certificates ready in time.
