Common Entrance Test, also known as CET, is conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to admit students into first year undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Medical, Dental, Homoepathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy, Yoga, Architecture and Agricultural courses in Government / University / Private unaided and private aided professional educational institutes of Karnataka. The CET was started in the year 1984. Every year more than 1 million students take this exam.

CET 2017 is scheduled to commence on May 2, 2017. This common entrance test is exclusively for the students of Karnataka only. Students belonging to other states can apply for admission to the various educational institutions through the Management quota seats.

CET rules keep changing. Students always tense & unhappy

Based on the raking of the students in the CET, counseling will be conducted and admission will be given to the respective colleges. Students can verify their answer sheets against the key answers that are uploaded on the CET website every year.

Important Application Dates For Karnataka CET 2017

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has extended the last date for submission of the application fee for obtaining the application form for admission into the first year undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Medical and Agricultural courses for the academic session 2017-2018.

  • Online application forms available on KEA website from Jan 30, 2017
  • Last date for submitting applications online: First week of March, 2017
  • Last date for paying fee in the bank / post office: March 4, 2017
  • Admission tickets can be downloaded from April 15, 2017
  • KCET 2014 entrance examinations would be held on May 2 & 3, 2017
  • Results would be announced on last week of May 2017.
  • Online option entry process would commence from June 25, 2017.

Karnataka CET Fee Details

  • For General Candidates: Rs. 650
  • For SC/ST and OBC candidates: Rs. 500

Karnataka CET Eligibility

Following are the eligibility criterion for the students appearing for the Karnataka CET 2014:

1. For Engineering

  • Candidate must pass 10+2 examination from any recognized educational institute
  • Student must have Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology as optional subjects
  • Study of English language is must
  • Min 50% marks is required
  • For SC/ST, 45% is required

2. For Medical/Dental

  • Candidates must pass 10+2 from recognized boards
  • Students must have Biology, physics and Chemistry
  • English language is also preferable
  • 50% passing marks for general students
  • 45% passing marks for SC/ST candidates

3. For Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga

  • Candidate must pass 10+2 from a recognized board
  • Student must have Biology, physics and Chemistry
  • English is also preferable
  • 50% passing marks for general candidates
  • 45% passing marks of SC/ST candidates

4. For Architecture

  • Student must pass 10+2 from a recognized board
  • Students must have Mathematics as a compulsory subject
  • 50% passing marks for the general candidates
  • 45%passing marks for the SC/ST candidates

5. For Agriculture

  • Student must pass 10+2 from a recognized board
  • Student must have Biology, physics and Chemistry
  • 50% passing marks for the general candidates
  • 45%passing marks for the SC/ST candidates

How to Apply

For Karnataka Students

  • Brochure cum application forms are available at the schools / colleges located within Karnataka.
  • Aspiring candidates have to first download the bank challan from KEA website by entering their name, date of birth, category and the name of the bank.
  • Candidates have to pay the requisite fee in any of the respective bank branches.
  • The bank will retain a copy of the challan and handover the remaining two copies of the challan to the students.
  • Students have to handover the challan to the concerned school / college principal to obtain the brochure.

For Non Karnataka Students

  • Candidates of Karnataka origin residing outside the state of Karnataka including Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadigas and wards of Jammu & Kashmir migrants can obtain the Karnataka CET 2014 application form through speed post.
  • Candidates have to send a self-addressed cloth-lined envelope of size 25cm x 30cm along with a demand draft (DD) of Rs 750/- drawn in favor of “The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore.” The DD should be payable at Bangalore.
  • The Karnataka candidates residing outside India can get the brochure cum application form by sending a DD of Rs 5,000/- to KEA.
  • The contents on the self-addressed envelope should be written in English or Kannada language only.
  • The cover in which the DD and self-addressed envelope are sent should be boldly super scribed with the words “REQUEST FOR CET-2014 BROCHURE” and must sent to the address of Executive Director by speed post only.

Procedure for Filling up of the CET Application form:

  1. Fill the application form with black ink or blue ink and using Ball point pen only.
  2. The application form is to be filled in a proper manner, following all the instructions and without making any strikes or stray marks on the form.
  3. There must be no blank space in the application form; in case of any blank space, mention N/A (not applicable).
  4. Candidates must paste their recent passport size photographs on blank space mentioned for photo and self attest the photograph (as instructed).
  5. Candidates must put their complete signature on the application form at the specified places and also put their left hand thumb impression in the specified box.
  6. After filling the application form candidates must submit the form to the college principal.

Collection of Admit Cards of KCET, 2017

Applicants must collect their KCET 2017 Admit Cards from their colleges on or before 15 April, 2017 (tentative date).

Karnataka CET 2017 Counselling Process:

  • Candidates must register for KCET 2017 counseling after the declaration of results.

KCET 2017 Counseling 

  • Eligible candidates will be able to enter their options from 11 am on June 14 to 6 pm on June 22, 2017.
    The results of the mock allotment will be published on June 23 at 4 pm, instead of June 24
    Students will have time till 6 pm on June 24 to change their options.
    The final allotment result for the first round of counselling will be published on June 25.
    This is two days ahead of the earlier schedule provided in the CET brochure.
    Students have to confirm their choice on the allotment, pay the fee and download the admission order, between June 27 and 30.
    The last date to report to the allotted college is the same as before, June 30, 2017 before 5.30 pm.
  • Candidates must get their documents verified at the notified Help Centers and retain the verification slip provided there
  • Candidates can fill in their choices of courses after obtaining the verification slip.
  • Candidates must pay the fees after KCET 2017 Seat Allotment
