About the Deepika Student Scholarship Programme

The Deepika Student Scholarship programme is specially launched to alleviate financial difficulties that deter girl students from pursuing their higher education. Hence, this being the main aim, the scholarship programme will ensure the socio-economic upliftment of women in society. Furthermore, the scholarship programme will benefit more than 37,000 girl students starting from the 2025-2026 academic year. In the event that the number of female students who wish to avail themselves of the scholarship exceeds 37,000, the government will still support them by providing scholarships to qualified applicants.

Eligibility to avail of the Deepika Student Scholarship

In Karnataka, girl students who have completed Pre University Course (PUC) in government colleges and who have enrolled for any degree or diploma course, including professional degree, are eligible to avail of the Deepika Student Scholarship. According to the Deepika Student Scholarship programme, girl students meeting the above criteria will get Rs. 30,000/- per year for their higher education.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister elaborated, “Under this scheme, a scholarship of ₹30,000 is provided to the girl students every year till they complete their degree course. This year, a total of 37,000 girl students will be provided this scholarship by the Azim Premji Foundation. To get this scholarship, the girl students must have completed class 10 and PU in government schools and colleges. To get the benefit of this scheme, the girl students must pass every year without fail,” he further explained.

What Mr. Azim Premji and Mr.M.C.Sudhakar (higher education minister) have to say

Azim Premji, founder of Azim Premji Foundation, said, “25 years ago, when I started the Foundation, my dream was for every child in India to get a good school education. In this period, I have seen more and more children go to school. When I meet school students, they tell me now that they want to go to college. This has made me very happy. So I decided to start a scholarship programme for girls who want to go to college.”

Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar said, “It is highly commendable that Azim Premji, one of India’s most successful entrepreneurs, is using 50% of his earnings for social and educational work through his foundation. The students can apply for this scholarship through online, along with your personal details. The last date for registration is September 30, 2025.”
