R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore

R.V. College of Engineering is a landmark institution in Bangalore. Established in the year 1963, the college is amongst the best engineering institutions in the country. RVCE, as it is popularly known, is one of a handful of institutions in India that have collaborations with top universities across the world. Postgraduate and research programs in R.V. College of Engineering have counterparts in universities located in Australia, France, Germany and the United States of America.

Although the college has connections with universities across the world, principles that are essentially Indian guide the college. Value based education and Gandhian principles form the basis of the mode of education employed in the college. The college is not aided by the government and is a self-financing institution.

RVCE, Bangalore

The college campus, located 13 kilometres outside the heart of Bangalore, on Mysore road is set in a lush 52 acres. The nearly unlimited area of land allows the management to utilize the area for events and meets to further the education offered in the college.

The research facility located in the college has executed research projects for many institutions like DRDO, HAL, CABs, ISRO, Naval research and AICTE. Leading expertise and the utilization of cutting-edge technology allow RVCE to remain at the precipice of the ever-evolving cliff face of science and technology.

The alumni of the college are luminaries in their fields. The achievements and success of the alumni encourage every new batch of students to try harder and achieve what the others think is not possible.

Extra-curricular Activities

Besides the academic courses, R. V. College of Engineering encourages extra-curricular activities on campus. The college has a cultural activities team that organizes and executes numerous activities that stimulate the creative spark in students throughout the academic year.

KriayKalpa, a techno- cultural museum on campus depicts through art and images the history of engineering technology in India. Besides art, numerous specimens and materials painstakingly collected over time reveal the intricate history of engineering technology and its relevance to the life of a common man in India.

The Gandhian principle and value based education center founded by Dr. S. C. Sharma is a collection of students and faculty members fighting for social justice and equality through the principles of ahimsa set forth by Gandhi. The center seeks to instill a socio-economic responsibility in every student walking out the door of R. V. College of Engineering.

Besides moral development and extra-curricular activities, R. V. College of Engineering believes that physical education is as important as education. The department encourages talent and interest in sports as it instills a sense of discipline in the students.

R. V. College of Engineering believes in a holistic education that stimulates students to think outside the traditional boundaries and live life on good socio-moral principles.

Research and Grants

The research programs at R. V. College of Engineering are a remnant of yesteryears tradition. The total number of research projects carried out in the college exceed over a hundred projects with a net worth of over Rs. 30 crores in the recent history. Interdisciplinary teamwork and a view trained towards sustainable and inclusive development has set R. V College of Engineering on a path toward becoming a leader in research and development.

The who’s who of R. V. College of Engineering

The Principal of R. V. College of Engineering is a well-educated, experienced world traveler. With an experience of over 25 years, a Ph. D. from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom and an invaluable experience in research and development labs across the world, Prof. B. S. Satyanarayana is the visionary behind R. V. College of Engineering.

The R. V. College of Engineering is managed by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust. The trust was founded by Sri. M. C. Shivananda Sharma, a pioneer in the field of education in pre-independent India.

Padmashree Anil Kumble (cricketer), Chetan Baboor (International TT player) and Vijayalakshmi Bidari (IAS Officer) are members of the distinguished alumni of R.V. College of Engineering.
