Alpine Wineries, Mysore – Preserving the Health Promoting Factors of Wines

January 20, 2014 by Jolad Rotti

Alpine Wineries Private Limited is a name to reckon with in the Indian wine industry. It was established in 2007 by Mr. Raghavendra Gowda, the visionary founder who was instrumental in planting the first grape vines in the naturally beautiful Mysore-Mandya region. Blessed by the perfect soil and climatic condition, the location proved to be ideal for the plantation and nurturing of vines. The result was the development of an excellent vineyard that produces finest quality grapes for wine making.

A unique feature of the company’s vineyard is that it is spread across an area of about 100 hectares at a stretch out of a total of 500 hectares. The company has been successful in planting twelve selected varieties of grapes (six red and six white). The initial capacity of the winery stands at 400000 litres and is expandable to 1.2 million litres. The company makes every effort towards the preservation of precious ingredients and health-promoting factors of wine.

Viticulture and Wine Making

Alpine Wineries intends to offer the wine connoisseurs only the best possible taste. To fulfil this intention the company has acquired state-of-the-art technologies from more than 15 countries of the world, including some of the finest wine producing nations like Brazil, Austria, France and Switzerland. Almost all the equipments of the winery have been imported from Europe.

The vineyard has vines that are planted closely so that the yield of each vine is minimized and the quality of production is maximized. There are two weather stations on the vineyard that provide accurate data regarding impending weather conditions. Such technology and processes puts the vineyard at par with the top vineyards in Europe.

The company has engaged the services of one of France’s best winemakers, Stephane Derenoncourt to bring out the best taste in the wines.
