Kadambi Waterfalls – A Captivating Sight

Kadambi Waterfalls is one of the spectacular natural attractions of Karnataka. The falls are located inside the Kudremukh National Park in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. The waterfall has a height of about 30 feet.

The Kadambi Waterfalls are a major draw for tourists who want to experience the beauty of nature in the lush green Western Ghats and especially in the Kudremukh range. It lies close to the main road between Sringeri & Kudremukh. As it is very close to the main road, it can be seen from a bridge situated nearby. However, most visitors prefer to go near the falls after overcoming a few minor hurdles. The adventurous visitors even get down to the waterfall to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and the water.

Kadambi Waterfalls – A delight for nature lovers

The Kadambi Waterfalls is a stunning sight to behold. In the abounding greenery of the place the majestic waterfall stands out as a stream of sparkling whiteness rushing down the rocks. During the monsoon season the waterfall comes alive with full force. At such times the beauty of the waterfall is enhanced by many degrees. It is an amazing sight to watch the water making its own way through the rocks at any time of the year.

Far away from the busy life of the city and its pollution filled environment, this gorgeous waterfall is a fine example of natural exquisiteness existing in the rainforests of Karnataka. For nature lovers the waterfall offers not only a mesmerizing visual but also a serene atmosphere to absorb the beauty. It is a splendid destination that rejuvenates the soul and relaxes the mind.

The Kadambi Waterfalls is located in an area that is rich in natural attractions. There are several destinations in the vicinity of the waterfall that are worth visiting. Some such beautiful tourist destinations of the area are:

  • Kudremukh Peak: It is a wonderful destination for all nature lovers. The peak is an excellent spot for photographers to capture the surrounding beauty of the spot. It is located at a distance of 184 meters above the sea level.
  • Kudremukh National Park: It is one of the major attractions of the Chikmagalur district. The exotic flora and fauna of the park draws a large number of tourists to visit it. Visitors have to obtain prior permission from the forest officials to visit this national park.
  • Rajendra Hill: This hill is situated in the Kudremukh region. It has one of the highest peaks in the state of Karnataka. It is also known as the Baba Budan Hill Town. The hill is surrounded by lush green coffee plantations and presents a majestic sight to the visitors. This hill is very rich in Iron ore.
  • Lakhya Dam: It is a tributary of the Bhadra River. It has a height of 100 m. The dam presents an amazing view to the visitors. During the rainy season the water of the dam rises and beauty of the place intensifies. The lush green surrounding of the dam attracts visitors throughout the year.
  • Hanuman Gundi Falls: It is a major attraction of the area surrounding the Kadambi waterfall. The Hanuman Gundi waterfall has a height of 100 ft. It is a gorgeous sight to watch the water falling onto the rocks.

Accommodation and Food Options

Visitors can stay in Kudremukh while on a trip to enjoy the beauty of the Kadambi Waterfalls. Several home stays are available in Kudremukh. Government tourism department also offers cottages and tent having all amenities to visitors who wish to stay in Kudremukh. However, camping within the Kudremukh National Park is not allowed.

The place lacks any good restaurant. There are just a few small shops that offer snacks to visitors. Hence, it is advisable to carry own food while visiting this place.

Best time to visit Kadambi Waterfalls

Monsoon and post-monsoon are the best season to visit the waterfall and watch it in its full glory. As such the best time to visit the waterfall is from October to May.

How to reach Kadambi Waterfalls

Kadambi Waterfalls stands at a distance of about 350 km from Bangalore and is accessible by several means of transport.

By Air

The nearest airport to reach the waterfall is at Mangalore, about 130km away.

By Rail

The nearest railway station to reach the waterfall is also at Mangalore.

By Road

Kudremukh is connected by road to Kalasa – 20km, Karkala – 50km, Mudigere – 75km, Mangalore – 130km, and Bangalore – 350km. There are cabs and buses available from Bangalore to reach the place. From Kudremukh there are buses and taxis that ferry passengers to the Kudremukh National Park, i.e., the place where the waterfall is located.
