Read Textbooks Online In Karnataka By Scanning The QR Code

Karnataka is among the most preferred destinations for primary, secondary and +2 education today. Several religious mutts, trusts, societies and corporate entities are operating their schools and colleges here. Students in Karnataka can now read textbooks online.

Read Text Books Online In Karnataka – Everything You Must Know

Starting this academic year, the Department of Public Instruction and Pre-University Education Department launched several new technology-based interventions to improve students’ learning outcomes and experience. The important among them are online textbooks and enabling the students to read the books through QR code scan. An App has also been provided to the students to learn on the go.

According to an estimation, around 11.5 lakh students are studying in PU colleges across the state. It is over 30 lakh students in primary and secondary schools.

Non-availability of textbooks is one of the major issues at the beginning of every academic year. This year also, even two months after the start of the new academic year, complaints continue to be galore.

However, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the Department of Pre-University Education have decided to use technology to solve this problem. Under the initiative, both the departments published the textbooks online in PDF format. Adding to this, the DPI printed QR code on all the books it published, and the students can read it through the app Disha.

Where To Raed PU Textbooks Online?

The Karnataka Pre-University Education department adopted the NCERT syllabus for all three streams i.e. Humanities, Commerce and Science. The main idea behind this exercise is to ensure that the state students will not face any problems while appearing for the national level admission tests, including NEET, UG, JEE (mains), JEE (advanced), AIIMS, BITS, CLAT etc.

According to the PU department authorities, an exclusive App has been available for Karnataka’s I PUC and II PUC students. It can be downloaded by clicking this link.

According to the PU department authorities, these links can be used to read the textbooks on the go. The students need not buy any textbooks which are very costly. From lab manuals to blueprints all are available online.

Primary And Secondary Textbooks Online

In Karnataka, the Karnataka Text Book Society, a subsidiary of the Department of Public Instruction has been given the responsibility of preparing and publishing the textbooks for the classes between I and X (SSLC). The society is headed by a senior Karnataka Education Service (KES) officer.

Keeping in mind the new challenges faced by the students, the society has launched online textbook service along with the QR code scanning facility. The textbooks are available on all the mediums. The textbooks can be assessed by clicking the link

The online textbooks are available in 8 languages including Kannada, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu etc.

How To Download The Textbooks

  • Choose Class, Medium and Subject and Click the Download link.

QR Code Scanning

On the front page of each textbook, a QR code for the download of the textbook is provided. This QR code can be scanned using the DISHA app.

VH And Special Students

For the students having learning issues and the Visually challenged, a different syllabus is followed in the state. The textbooks can be downloaded from this page.

National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)

In Karnataka, students are taught skills in beauty and wellness, health care, information technology (IT), automotive and retail business. The textbooks, curriculum and workbooks can be downloaded from here.
