Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is an all-girl institution that strives to give the best law education to women nationwide.
This college was inaugurated in July 2002. The college is managed by the Bishop in Karnataka Central Diocese of the Church of South India. The college is recognized by the government of Karnataka. It is affiliated to Karnataka State Law University and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The college was affiliated to Bangalore University till the year 2008-09.
Courses Offered
The courses offered include:
- Five years integrated course & three years integrated course
- Diploma in Corporate merger(diploma conferred by Bombay stock exchange)
- Securities and Investments
- Cyber Laws, Intellectual property rights( Diploma given by Karnataka State Open University)
- Certificate courses for personality development and Company Secretary
The syllabus and scheme of the courses is followed in accordance to the University direction. Examination would be held according to the semester system. The college would hold one exam, one or two assessment tests and one model examinations per semester for all students before the main examination conducted by the University. Those who fail or are absent without taking a permitted leave would be penalized by paying a fine. The amount of the fine is Rs 200 for failure and Rs 500 for absence without an official permission.
Infrastructure Facilities
Bishop Cotton Women’s Law College provides a library facility to all students and encourages library reading by making it compulsory. Students are directed to use the library for at least two hours every day. Students also have access to online reading resources through e-library. The library also stalks books from the fiction genre apart from the usual journals and magazines.
The college offers a separate computer lab for students within the campus. Around 20 computers are available for usage, and students pursuing diplomas in Corporate Laws would be required to use the computers.
The college boasts of an auditorium to cater to the various extra-curricular activities organized for students.
A canteen also is in the vicinity to nourish the taste buds of the students from 10 in the morning till 4 in the evening on all working days (Monday to Friday).
The hostel for students is not located within the college vicinity. All amenities are provided in the hostel. A bus service is also in place to take the students from the hostel to the campus.
The campus holds annual sports day for every year in the month of November or January which is an impetus for students to participate enthusiastically. The extra- curricular also involves NSS activities, seminars, camps and fine arts.
