What Is The Golden Chariot Tour Package?
The Golden Chariot is a luxury tourist train that made its maiden run in 2008. It took 6 years from 2002 when the Karnataka state tourism board and the Indian Railways signed an MOU to 2008 for the train to be designed and developed. In January 2020, the Karnataka Tourism Department handed over the train to the IRCTC after sustaining heavy losses.
The Golden Chariot offers tourists a unique way to experience the scenic and historical beauty of south India. It has 18 coaches with 44 cabins. The coaches are named after the dynasties that once ruled the south:
- Adil Shahi, Bahamani
- Chalukya
- Ganga
- Hoysala
- Kadamba
- Rashtrakuta
- Sangama
- Satavahana
- Vijayanagar
- Yadukula
Common facilities include 2 restaurants, a conference room, a lounge bar, a gym and spa. The individual cabins are elegantly furnished and equipped with state-of-the-art amenities including LCD televisions and internet connectivity. Each cabin has a private, attached bathroom.
