Talacauvery

Talacauvery, also spelled Talakaveri, is a sacred site in Kodagu (Coorg) district revered as the birthplace of the river Kaveri, one of South India’s most important rivers. Located near Bhagamandala at the confluence of three rivers, the spot is marked by a small temple and kundike (sacred tank) where the river’s original spring is said to rise, along with a hilltop viewpoint reached via a flight of steps. Pilgrims visit especially during Tula Sankramana, when the spring reportedly bubbles up at a fixed moment. Read on for Talacauvery’s legends, temple details, and everything about the river Kaveri
