Shivagange is a spectacular waterfall in the Western Ghats neighboring three taluks of the northern Karnataka i.e Yellapur, Ankola and Sirsi. The Shivgange Falls is on the river Sonda flowing in Uttara Kannada and it falls from a height of 74m. The forest is amidst luscious green forests that add to the beauty of the waterfall.
A lord Ganesh temple can be spotted in the center of the river. The temple is in the upstream, hence to reach the temple, one must walk up in the opposite direction of Shivgange Falls. The waterfall is down the valley. The walkway to the waterfall is also very pleasant experience. The water stream near the fall Is very steep, hence it is not safe to go deep into the waters.
The road that leads to the waterfall is indeed a pleasant walk. The place Sirsi is famous for Sahasra linga. From a distance, itself, one can see the thick white foamy waterfalls amidst the thickets of forests.
How to Reach Shivangange Falls
By Road
Sirsi is the nearest spot which is around 44km from the Shivangange Falls. And from Karwar, the waterfall is around 140 km. Sirsi or Karwar can be reached by taking up a bus or taxi etc. from the major cities as they are well connected.
By Air
Dabolim is the nearest airport to Sirsi. Hubli (102 km) is also another airport nearby. Bangalore is 425km from Sirsi. From Airport one can hire a taxi or cab to reach the waterfall.
By Rail
Kumta (61 km) is the nearest railway station to Sirsi. Kumta railway station is well connected to other cities. From railway station one can hire a taxi, or even take up buses to reach Sirsi and from there to the waterfalls.
