All About Kuthlur, An Offbeat Adventure Tourism Destination

Kuthlur, a little hamlet in the Belthangady taluk of  Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, seeks to soar your adventure spirits. It has been recognized as the ‘Best Tourism Village In India’ by the Ministry of Tourism, India. The government has acknowledged the village’s scope for adventure tourism.

What is it about Kuthlur?

Kuthlur is a picture-perfect village located at the foothills of the Western Ghats and surrounded by forests. The picturesque mountain ranges and the Arbi waterfalls are pretty sights in the village. The Indian government has acknowledged the scope of trekking, hiking, and other adventure activities in Kuthlur. Since its recognition as the best tourism village, Kuthlur has emerged as a premier adventure tourism spot. Undoubtedly, adventurers and general tourists wait to explore the hidden gem. It also serves as an offbeat tourist destination for those looking forward to hitting the less travelled roads.

Apart from the natural beauty the village is bestowed with, the cultural aspects also add credit to this tourist spot. The Malekudiya people’s tribal practices, Bhootharadhane rituals, and historical places are to name a few. Venur, 13.5 km from Kuthlur, known for its Bahubali statue, also attracts people to this hamlet. The village largely sustains itself with agriculture and other trades like dairy farming, textiles, and local crafts.

The nearest major city to Kuthlur is Mangalore, which lies about 60 km away from the village. The nearest railway station is the Mangalore Railway Station, and the nearest airport is the Mangalore International Airport.
