This town which is also called the Golden City of India is famous for Kolar gold fields where gold mining is done. Besides the Someshwara temple and Kolaramma temple, Kolar is also well known for places like Antharagange caves, Avani, and Kotilingeshwara temple. Antharagange caves attract a number of tourists, the main reason being there is a pond in the temple which gets a continuous flow of underground water which comes from the mouth of a stone bull.
