Karnataka’s percentage share of international students in India has been between 20% and 35% every year since 2012-13. One of the reasons for this could be the Karnataka government’s focus on developing infrastructure.

In the year 2018-19, a total of 47,427 foreign students were enrolled in Indian colleges and universities. Of these, 10,023 students were enrolled in colleges and universities in Karnataka.

Though this is a considerable percentage of the total international student population, it is significantly lower than the foreign student population in Karnataka in 2015-16.
