Virajpet

Located in the state of Karnataka in India, Virajpet is in the Kodagu district. This small hill town is famous for its coffee and spices. Covered in hills, lush green plantations and lakes this beautiful town is a popular destination for nature lovers and tourists. Virajpet is blessed with some of the most beautiful places in the country that are worth exploring. This little town is also the largest producer of honey in Asia. This town was established in 1792 by the Haleri King Virarajendra.

Some of the temples worth seeing in Virajpet are the Ayyappa temple on the way to Malethirike hill and the Shiva temple on the peak of this hill. The Talakaveri temple that lies at a distance of 58 kilometers from this town and the Iguthappa temple is quite popular among pilgrims and tourists. St. Anne's Church built in 1872 in the European- Gothic style attracts tourists from all around.

Chelavara Waterfalls surrounded by coffee plantations is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country and a favorite spot of nature lovers.  Some of the other places worth visiting in Virajpet are Siddapura, Thadiyandamol hills, Kandanga (bird watching), Pollibeta, and Perambady Lake. The best time to visit Virajpet is from October to March.
