Double-Decker Buses In Bangalore To Ply Again For Sightseeing!

Double-decker buses in Bangalore are set to hit the city’s roads with hop-on, hop-off heritage sightseeing tours. Tourism Minister HK Patil launched the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC)’s Ambaari for the purpose on 21st January, 2026. The service has returned after 29 years.

Route of Double-decker buses in Bangalore

The newly launched double-decker buses in Bangalore will function on a short loop to start with, before further expansion to a longer route, which will cover 26 landmarks.

Ravindra Kalakshetra → Town Hall → Corporation → Hudson Circle → Kasturba Road → Kanteerava Stadium → Vittal Mallya Road → UB City → Government Museum → Visvesvaraya Museum → Anil Kumble Circle → Cubbon Park → Queens Road → Chinnaswamy Stadium → Cubbon Road → Minsk Square → General Post Office →Utility Building → Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road → Bar Council → High Court →Vidhana Soudha → Vikasa Soudha → M.S. Building → K.R. Circle → Nrupathunga Road →Back to Ravindra Kalakshetra will form the complete route.

Passengers will get to see significant landmarks such as Vidhana Soudha, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the High Court of Karnataka, Town Hall, and Visvesvaraya Science and Technology Museum. The new service began on Wednesday, 21st January 2026.

Three buses will ply on the roads of Bangalore with five trips a day, starting at 10.30 AM. However, the new service will avoid skywalks, flyovers, and underpasses. Previously, a similar bus service was introduced by the tourism department and the Bangalore City Corporation, but was withdrawn due to overhead cables and trees. The buses will also avoid plying during the rush hours in the morning and evening.

  • The double-decker buses in Bangalore for sightseeing, named Ambaari, are generally used only during Mysore Dasara. However, to better and extend their use, a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing service has now begun.
  • The Ambaari double-decker buses can accommodate 40 passengers. They can carry 20 passengers on the lower, air-conditioned deck and 20 on the open-top upper deck.
  • There are six double-decker buses in total, and new ones will be introduced as public demand increases.
