The institute is named after Sir. M. Visvesvaraya, a well known Engineer, statesman and a former Diwan of Mysore; it was established in the year 1986. Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the institute has achieved the ISO 9001:2000 certification.
