Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna is an island town on the river Kaveri in Mandya district, famed as the capital of Tipu Sultan and the site of his final battle against the British in 1799. Its fort, the Daria Daulat Bagh summer palace, and the ancient Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, one of the five sacred Pancharanga Kshetrams dedicated to Lord Vishnu, make it one of Karnataka’s richest historical stops near Mysore. Just outside town, the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary adds a nature-watching detour, drawing migratory birds to its river islets.
