About Gargeshwari temple

The Gargeshwari temple in the village of Gargeshwari is the abode of Lord Shiva, Lord Gargeshwara. Lord Gargeshwara is a naturally formed Spatika Linga with the combined power of Goddess Parvati. Hence, people worship Lord Gargeshwara as Ardhanareeshwara (Goddess Parvati forming a part of Lord Shiva) in this temple. Furthermore, as per belief, the Linga grows every year. However, Lord Ganesha is also popular for determining whether the people’s wishes come true in this temple in the Gargeshwari village in a strange way.

The peculiarity of Lord Ganesha

As per the Gargeshwari temple history, it is a belief that Adi Shankaracharya installed the idol of the miraculous Ganesha idol in the temple in Gargeshwari village known as Yantra Prashne Ganapathy or Yanthrodarka Maha Ganapathy. People flock to the temple to know if Lord Ganesha will reveal peculiarly if their wishes will come true. Devotees pray to Lord Ganesha to grant their wish and try to lift the Ganesha idol which weighs about 5 to 6 kg. If their wish is to materialise, they can easily lift the idol of Lord Ganesha. If not, they will not be able to move the idol. Owing to the uniqueness of Lord Ganesha in this temple, the abode is also known as the Gargeshwari Ganesha temple.
