How To Pay Property Tax In Karnataka?

April 4, 2019 by madur

Do you want to know how to pay property taxes in Karnataka? Read on to learn how to pay property taxes in various parts of the state.

Why Property Tax

Property tax is one of the important sources of revenue for both the Urban Local Bodies and the Village Local Bodies to take up the developmental works.

If property tax is not paid, the concerned Urban Local Body (ULB) is authorised to initiate action against the defaulters. It includes the seizure and auction of the property.

The properties in the ULBs across the state are divided into various categories. They can be broadly categorized into residential, commercial properties and vacant sites. These categories are subdivided further.  The property tax is fixed based on self-assessment and declaration.

Generally, all the ULBs across the state start the property tax collection on April 1st. They give a 5% concession to those paying the property tax in the first month.
