At present, in Bangalore, traffic stations receive 3 to 4 insurance acknowledgement requests daily, totaling 150-200 across the city. Currently, people who have an accident without bodily harm must visit the police station to report it and receive a paper acknowledgement for insurance claims. Needless to say, the process is cumbersome and stressful. However, Bangalore Traffic Police (BTP) has now launched the e-accident report on its ASTraM app, which has simplified the process to a great extent. People can now:

Report the accident digitally via the ASTraM app
Upload photos of the accident.
Obtain instant acknowledgement
Send the digital report directly and easily to the insurance provider.

How does reporting accidents on BTP’s e-accident report on the ASTraM app work?

Here’s how reporting on BTP’s e-accident report on the ASTraM app works.

In the BTP ASTraM app, click on ‘e-accident report.’
Select ‘Report my accident’
Under ‘Vehicle information’, provide your and your opposite party’s vehicle number.
Under ‘Accident Details’, provide the information regarding the accident location, when the accident occurred, and a short description of the accident.
Upload your vehicle photos.
Provide your contact information in the respective field.
Declare and submit the report.
Receive the acknowledgement.

This report has a unique ID and a passkey with a QR code. Also, a short link helps insurance companies verify the report’s authenticity.

Note: You can report only minor accidents without injuries on this app. For major accidents, the app will direct concerned people to call 112 to report.
