Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 result are coming out. The election was held on 10th May and a party needs 113 seats to form the government. After 34 years any party won as many seats or got as large a vote share in Karnataka assembly polls. Congress in 1989 won 178 seats and 43.8% vote share.

  • 12 BJP ministers (out of 25) lost the elections.
  • 105 seats in which the winner got over 50% of the votes: 70 from Congress, 33 from BJP and 2 from JD(S)
  • None of the 15 ST seats won by BJP, 12 of the 36 ST seats won by BJP.
  • Lingayats comprise about 14% of the state’s 5.3 crore electorate and Vokkaligas about 12%
  • Lingayat MLAs: 37 in Congress, 15 in BJP
  • 15 of BJP’s 69 Lingayat candidates won
  • 30 of Congress’s 61 seats in Vokaliga-dominaed Old Mysur regions
