The P.D.A (Poojya Dodappa Appa) College of Engineering is located in the district of Gulbarga in Karnataka. The college was established in 1958 by the Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society. This society, founded by Shri Mahadevappa Rampure, a great educationist, has 46 educational institutions under its governance. The P.D.A College of Engineering is one of the few colleges in India to offer a course in Ceramic and Cement technology.
The College is spread over a 70 acre campus on each side of the Mumbai-Chennai Railway line. P.D.A College of Engineering is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. It is one among the 14 colleges selected under the TEQIP scheme, sponsored by the World Bank. Recognizing the potential of the college, the VTU, Belgaum conferred Autonomous status to the college. It is also the first college in Karnataka to add the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch to its curriculums.
What Does it Offer?
The College offers Undergraduate Courses in Automobile Engineering and Information Science and Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, Architecture, Cement and Ceramics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering.
Post Graduate Courses are offered in the following disciplines -Computer Science and Engineering and Bio-Medical Electronics and Industrial Instrumentation, Power electronics, Production Engineering, Communication Systems, Thermal Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering.
The college has a big library, well equipped Lab facilities, Hostel facilities and a Networked Campus. It admits students to its Undergraduate courses by assessing their performance in the CET and COMED-K entrance exams; the admissions to the Postgraduate courses are done through an entrance test.
Research and Grants
The college has Research Centers for the following departments – Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The institute was awarded as the best college in the year 2000 by KSCST, Bangalore during the state level student’s project exhibition.
