The Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT) in Belgaum is one of the premier technological and engineering institutes in Karnataka. Currently, it is ranked third in Karnataka by the Visvesvaraya Technological University. The institute has been recognized by the software giant, IBM as a Centre of Excellence.
The Gogte Institute’s vision is to stand apart as an Institution of Excellence in Technical education and to train individuals of outstanding calibre and character. With this vision in mind it was established by the Karnataka Law Society in 1979. The mission of the institute is to train its students to become Engineers with high standards of professionalism and ethics, and who have the necessary positive attitude and perfect blend of technical and managerial skills.
GIT Affiliations
The GIT is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). It is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. In addition, GIT has been the recipient of the LEAD YUVA Summit award for Best Performing College in the academic years 2012-13 and 2013-14.
The GIT has been selected by IIT, Chennai to house the Ministry of Human Resources, QEEE programme. The Gogte Institute of Technology also houses Akash, the NMEICT project for IIT, Mumbai. The presence of a willing and qualified staff and infrastructure has ensured that the institute was selected by the government of Karnataka for establishing the ICT Incubation centre by Department of IT, BT and S & T.
