One of the major attractions of Karnataka tourism is Mysuru Dasara. It is popularly called as the Nada Habba. This annual celebration was started in the year 1610 AD in Srirangapatna by Raja Wadiyar.
The Dasara celebrations were first started by the Vijayanagara empires of Hampi and Later the same tradition was continued by the Wadiyar Mysuru.
Even though the Dasara celebrations were shifted to Mysuru after the death of Tipu Sultan, in Srirangapatna even today the Mandya district administration celebrates the Srirangapatna Dasara.
This year the Mysuru Dasara will be inaugurated on 26th of September by The President of India after a puja at Chamundeshwari Temple, Chamundi Hills, the nada devata (state deity) of the Mysuru provisions.

Major Attractions Of Mysuru Dasara
The major attractions of the Dasara include Jambu Savari on the last day of the festival followed by a torchlight parade.
Other major attractions include an exhibition, royal tour, youth Dasara, Dasara sports, Dasara film festival, Dasara food mela, Dasara wrestling, farmer’s Dasara, and various cultural events on the palace premises.
Private Dasara
Besides annual Dasara celebrations organised by the state government, in the Mysore Palace, the royal family will celebrate the private Dasara also. Scion of the Mysuru Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife Trishika Kumari Wadiyar will participate in the rituals.
Improved Connectivity
Mysuru Dasara is celebrated this year with much-improved railway and air connectivity. Five cities i.e. Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochin and Bengaluru are connected with affordable flight services under the Udan project. A direct daily train service has been launched between Mysuru and Hyderabad.
