Book Clubs In Bangalore That Keep You Hooked!

September 1, 2023 by Priya Radhakrishnan

Books and Bangalore always share a beautiful bond. Bibliophiles across the city coming together in book clubs for exchange of thoughts, to engage in discussions or for the sheer joy of reading amidst like-minded people. Here are some of the book clubs in Bangalore that bring book lovers together.

In Atta Galatta readers get together once every month on second or third Sundays to discuss a certain theme instead of a particular book. Here, they come across a variety of books of a particular theme that they may not have been familiar with, garnering a variety of information. Founded by Rohini Malur, this is one of the well-known book clubs in Bangalore.

The Bangalore Book Club

Food consultant and writer Monika Manchanda along with a friend, formed this club six years ago. Currently it has a thriving number of 40 members, who meet over books. The readers get together once a month in a member’s house to discuss a particular book.

Cubbon Reads, Cubbon Park

‘Cubbon Reads’ founded by Harsh Snehanshu and Shruti Sah is more for introverts who would like to engage in silent reading without making much conversation. This aspect makes it a little different from the other book clubs in Bangalore. This group of about 10 meet outdoors every Saturday at the sprawling Cubbon Park with a book to lose themselves in.

Bring Your Own Book

The members of this book club bond over books once a month, usually on Saturdays in the place of its members. As the name suggests, one can bring any book to read and involve in a discussion regarding it for about five to 10 minutes.

Under The Lamp

The members meet every fortnight, usually in M.G. Road, where they switch venues. A person who has already read a book presents an overview, after which the members discuss the factors that appeal to them most about the book. Under the lamp also holds a 50 day reading challenge wherein members will have to mark twenty pages per day as read.

Urban Solace Book Lovers’ Club

The club started off with reading classics in the beginning. Over a period it began featuring writers and their most recent books and moved on to feature writers and their body of work. Other activities in the club include panel discussions, photo exhibitions, graphic art exhibitions on book covers or popular quotes of the writer and also screening of the film based on the book discussed.

How to join these book clubs?

Information regarding the joining of these book clubs in Bangalore is present in their social media pages. One can find out the details there.
