The Kodi Sea Walk In Kundapur – An Experience to Remember

March 17, 2022 by madur

Taking a long walk by the sea is a calming experience for everyone. Not far from Udupi, in Kundapur, you don’t have to stop here. The Kodi Sea Walk lets you literally walk into the sea.

The Kodi beach has long been considered one of the secret gems of the Udupi region. The beach marks the region where the River Suvarna and River Seetaa meet the sea.

Many people are completely unaware of this beach. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see too many other people around when you visit. The beach boasts spectacular natural beauty and a clean, sandy beachfront. The water is crystal clear too – many people claim to have spotted dolphins. The sea walk simply gives you one more reason to visit.

Kodi Sea Walk

The Kodi Sea Walk in Kundapur, Udupi

The Kodi Sea Walk is about 1km long and flanked by water. It was constructed on a breakwater on the Kodi beach and lets visitors feel like they’re walking into the sea. A protective wall on both sides keeps the experience visual and keeps waves from crashing on people.

If you’re the adventurous type, you can go across the protective wall and find a seat on any of the tetrapods. Or, just perch yourself on the wall of the sea walk and enjoy the sun setting over the sea in front of you and swaying palms behind you.

Development At Kodi Beach

Until now Kodi beach has found a name for itself only because of its natural beauty and golden sand. Now, the government is stepping in to make the area more attractive for tourists.

Plans are underway to develop hotels and restaurants along the beachfront as well as introduce water sports to the region. Incidentally, there is a popular surfing school located not too far away.

How To Reach Kodi Sea Walk

By Road

If you don’t have a personal vehicle, there are several buses that ply between the Udupi City Bus Stand and Kodi Beach. A motorable road also connects Kodi beach to Huude and Kemmannu.

By Rail

The Udupi Railway Station at Indrali is the closest railway station. The remaining 17km to the Kodi beach can be covered by road.

By Air

The closest airport is in Mangalore. The Mangaluru International Airport is about 72km away from the beach. Taxis can take you from the airport to the beach.
