Nestled amidst the Lan of Seven Hills, Ramanagara, is the pristine Kanva reservoir. The man-made lake, formed by the damming of the river, is spread over 776 hectares. It was designed as an irrigation project but as time went by it attracted birds and became a scenic picnic spot.

Kanva Reservoir – An Overview
The Kanva Reservoir is built across the Kanva River, a tributary of the Kaveri River. It was built in 1946 and designed with the advice of Sir M Visvesvaraya. It has been named after a sage named Kanva who is believed to have once lived in the forests and mountains in the vicinity.
The reservoir attracts both bird watchers and adventure seekers. Apart from birds, the reservoir abounds with fish.
