About Nandi Hills

60kms away from the city of Bangalore, Nandi Hills is an ancient hill fortress that abounds in natural beauty and heritage. There are a number of stories associated with these hills. During the Chola period, they were known as the Hill of Happiness or Ananda Giri.

Another reason for it being named the Nandi Hills was because Yogi Nandeeshwara once performed penance in these hills. Another theory is that the hills got their name from the 1300-year-old Nandi temple on the hill. The temple is built in the Dravidian style of architecture.
