Nandavara is an ancient town of historical importance. Known as Nandapura, it served as the capital of the Nanda Dynasty for several centuries. The Nandas built many temples, palaces and a fort here. None of them fort have survived to this day. But this place still has an air of antiquity and there are some historical temples here, including the Veerabhadreshwara temple and the Shri Vinayaka Shankaranarayana Durgamba Temple.
