Christ University located in Bangalore, India is run by a congregation of priests of Carmelites Mary Immaculate way back in 1969. The CMI is the first native Syrian Catholic religious parishioners in India and they manage 30 colleges, 400 schools and several hospitals across the country.
Established with the purpose of imparting education for development, Christ University today caters to over 9,000 students and has at least 250 non-teaching and 300 teaching staff. The University combines the best from the Western and Eastern systems, thereby creating a genuine global perspective towards education.
Christ University is probably one of the very few colleges that volunteered for assessment and got accredited by NAAC in 1998 followed by reaccreditation in 2005. With a current rating of A+ by the UGC funded , NAAC, the University is deemed as a “College with Potential for Excellence”.

Christ University provides Postgraduate, Undergraduate, M.Phil and many Certificate Programs in different academic disciplines.
Streams under the Faculty of Engineering include Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
School of Law offers BA Honors, Masters, Ph. D and M. Phil programs.
Faculties under Commerce and Management include Economics, Tourism, Commerce, Hotel Management and Professional Studies such as PG programs offered by the Institute of Management.
Basic Science courses encompass Computers, Zoology, Botany, Statistics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biotechnology.
Humanities and Social Sciences offer interesting courses such as Political Science, History, Social Work, Psychology, Journalism, Media Studies, Philosophy and Sociology. Department of Languages has its own set of reputed courses.
Physical Education and Theatre create a prominent presence in the University’s curriculum. Other facilities include a modern library, technology lab, sciences lab and psychology lab besides cafeteria, prayer hall and playground.
Research and Grants
The Research Development Cells have been independently, established by Christ University to pursue academic excellence and creativity, for Social Sciences and Humanities, Commerce and Management and Science. These streams are the core academic disciplines of the university.
The resource center facilitates research on professional and academic interest. It aims to publish research material in suitable media and make them available to end users.
Research areas are identified by the development cells and the university offers financial support to faculty members to handle research studies and determine stipulated regulations.
