There’s nothing that can be compared to the magnificent beauty of water falling from a height while being flanked by nature’s beauty. The Alekan Waterfalls or Alekhan Falls is one of the hidden beauties of the Western Ghats.
It is easy to spot and at a distance of about 18 km from Charmadi and 4 kilometers from Kottegehara. The waterfall has a height of 90 feet and is surrounded by lush greenery and is a popular stop for nature lovers and tourists passing by the region.
Alekan Waterfalls – A Majestic Vision of Beauty
The Alekan Falls is visible from the main road to Charmadi. While some people choose to see the waterfall as they drive by, others may want to step down and get a closer look at the water gushing down. A narrow mud path connects the main road to the base of the waterfall.
During the monsoons, the path can be a little slippery and tourists are advised to proceed with caution. The water pools at the base of the waterfall and entice tourists to take a dip. However, the currents can be quite high especially in the monsoons. It may be a better idea to sit by the side of the waterfall and only dip one’s feet in.
The waterfall is particularly beautiful during the early mornings and late evenings when the hills are covered by a light mist.
Best Time to Visit Alekan Waterfalls
Monsoons between June and August is the best time to visit the falls.
