Chikballapur

Chikballapur is one of the recently formed districts in the state of Karnataka in India. Established in the year 2007, the social and economic growth of this place is worth mentioning. This place is also in the process of establishing several educational institutions including engineering and medical schools of good reputation. A town that’s always given importance to agriculture the name of this place in Kannada means a town that uses small measure for its grains. This place is well known for grain, grape and silk cultivation.

An ancient fortress in Karnataka, the Nandi Hills, is situated at a distance of 10 kilometers from Chikballapur. The river Arkavathy is said to have its origins in this place. Located at a distance of 60 kilometers from Bangalore, this place attracts tourists from all over but mostly Bangaloreans. Considered to be over 1300 years old the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is frequented by pilgrims and travelers from around the world.  The other religious places worth seeing are the Sri Anjaneya Swami Temple, The Dargah of Hazrath Peer Syed Gayazaulla Shah Naseeri and the Ranganatha Swamy Temple. Tippu’s Drop on the Nandi Hills is quite popular among tourists. The view is fascinating and this is a favorite spot for photographers. September to February is the best time to visit this town.
