Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore – A Popular Boating Destination

Vengaihnakere Lake is one the popular boating destinations of Bangalore. The lake is situated in the Old Madras Road in the K R Puram area of the city. The water body occupies an area of about 40 acres. The lake has been recently developed by the Lake Development Authority (LDA) of Bangalore and has been renamed as the Fantasy Lagoon.

The area surrounding the lake has been beautified as a leisure spot where adults can relax and the young children can play and have a good time.

History of the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

A few years ago the lake was in a bad shape. It was almost totally covered with water hyacinth. Seeing the deteriorating condition of the lake the BBMP handed over its responsibility to the LDA. The lake has been given on lease to LDA for 15 years and the association is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the water body.

The beauty of the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

The lake is a wonderful place for spending a relaxing time with family. The beautiful surroundings of the water body and the boating facilities add to its attraction. The newly built park adjacent to the lake is spread over an area of 20 acres. This fun and entertainment park has a good play area for the children. The jogging track near the lake draws people to enjoy a good walk. The place has ample sitting arrangements with sheds.

The park is full of lovely and colourful flowering plants and long hedges. Several birds can be spotted near the water body. Another attraction of the lake is the artificial island built on it. The lake has several species of fishes. There are fishing zones and food courts built for the visitors. The food court offers various food items for visitors. Outside food is not allowed inside the park premises.

Main attractions of the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

The main attraction of the Vengaihnakere Lake is the boating facility. A range of boating options are available for the visitors. There are speed boats, pedal boats, scooter boats, etc. for visitors to enjoy a ride. There are different boats for 2 people, 4 people or for families wanting to avail the boating facilities. The boating club takes care for the safety of the people opting for boat rides. A safe boating zone has been earmarked for the visitors. Life jackets and guards are provided for visitors opting for boat rides on the lake.

Timings for visiting the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

  • The lake and the park are open for visitors on all days of the week from 11 am to 8 pm.
  • Boating facility is available from 11 am to 7 pm on all days of the week.

Entry fee and other charges at the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

  • Entry charges: The entry fee for adults is Rs. 30 per head and for children is Rs. 15 per child.
  • Camera charges: Cameras are allowed inside the lake for a charge of Rs. 50.
  • Boating charges: The boating rates start from Rs. 40 and goes up to Rs. 225 for different boats.

How to reach the Vengaihnakere Lake, Bangalore

The city of Bangalore is well connected by various means of transport. Bangalore has several flights, trains and buses that connect the city to various other towns and cities of the country.

The Vengaihnakere Lake can be easily reached from any part of Bangalore.

The lake can be reached by boarding any of the BMTC buses that ply for K R Puram and Hoskote. Visitors can also reach the lake by auto rickshaws, bikes, cars or taxis.

The park can be accessed from two gates, one from the K R Puram side and the other from the TC Palya side.
