Where on one hand, Bengaluru is known as the Silicon Valley of India. On the other, it is also called a Pensioner’s Paradise. The city offers plenty of work opportunities, a bustling nightlife, a pleasant climate and plenty of entertainment options.

Recently, Bangalore was named as one of the top ten places for realty investments. With this in mind, it isn’t surprising to see an increasing number of people migrate to the city.

Cost Of Living In Bangalore And The Global Cost Of Living Index

The city ranks 397th on the global cost of living index. Comparatively, Gurgaon ranks 383rd, Mumbai is 390th and Delhi is ranked 395th. The highest cost of living index is in Basel, Switzerland. Thus, Bengaluru is one of the cheaper Indian metro cities to live in.

Rental In Bengaluru

The cost of renting an apartment is a major influencing factor in budgeting your stay in Bengaluru. The city has apartments of all sizes as well as independent houses. Apartments are available on rent with and without furniture.

Bachelors may choose to rent apartments on a sharing basis. Koramangala has the highest livability score in the city. Rentals here start at around Rs7,500 for a 1BHK. Other popular areas include Electronic City, Whitefield, and HSR Layout.

Bengaluru is notorious for traffic jams, and hence most people choose to stay in areas near their place of work.

Dining Out In Bengaluru

Bengaluru has plenty of options to dine out. No matter what your budget is, you will be able to find a place to eat here. The city’s restaurants offer a variety of cuisines ranging from Indian and Chinese to Japanese, Italian, etc.

There are also a number of bars and cafes worth exploring. The cost of a meal per person can range from a few hundred to a few thousand depending on the restaurant.

Utility Expenses

Groceries are quite reasonable in Bengaluru. Non-AC bus passes for the month cost about INR 1900, while the same for AC buses are priced at about INR 2,250.

Metro tickets start from Rs10 and go up to Rs60. Regarding domestic help for your home, maids can charge upwards of Rs 1200 for a 1BHK. Similarly, a cook can charge upwards of Rs 2000 per person.
