The Anna Bhagya Scheme aims to provide free rice for eligible BPL (Below Poverty Line) residents of the state of Karnataka. Launched by the state government in 2023, the scheme’s primary goal is to alleviate hunger among economically vulnerable individuals.

Benefits of the scheme

The Anna Bhagya Scheme distributes 10 kg of rice every month free of cost to the Antyodaya Anna/Priority Household cardholders belonging to the BPL category.

  • Alleviates hunger and promotes health in the economically weaker sections of society.
  • Reduces the financial burden of the beneficiaries 
  • Enhances the socio-economic development of the beneficiaries.

Anna Bhagya eligibility criteria

Below is the eligibility criteria for the scheme.

  • The primary requirement of the person who wants to avail of the Anna Bhagya Scheme is to be a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
  • One should be a below poverty line (BPL)  cardholder or an Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) cardholder.
  • One should also have a valid Aadhaar card.

Anna Bhagya Scheme – How to apply

There is no specific application process for Anna Bhagya.

  • One can visit the nearby ration shop with the BPL or AAY card and the Aadhar card to claim the free rice.
  • After verifying your eligibility and the biometric verification process, the shopkeeper will provide you with free 10 kg rice per person per month.

How to get Anna Bhagya’s amount instead of rice online?

Anna Bhagya DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) payment has been stopped from February 2025.
