Madhugiri Fort

The village of Madhugiri is famous for its fort. Perched on the steep slopes of the hills, the Madhugiri Fort is an excellent example of the architecture and stone. Constructed in 1678 by Raja Heera Gowda of the Ganga dynasty, the fort is a famous tourist attraction. The Gowdas used to rule the region from the Madhugiri Fort. Although the fort is now in a ruined condition due to improper maintenance, it only serves as a trek for adventurers. Located at a distance of 25 kms from Madhugiri is the Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve, it covers an area of 3.23 sq kms and offers a sight of rich flora and fauna.
