ComedK Statistics

People from various parts of Karnataka take the ComedK exam

It is always interesting to read about numbers. We list some important statistics about Karnataka Comedk for the year 2011. We will try to update it as and when the board published these numbers.

Almost 20,000 students enrolled for ComedK counseling for admission to private colleges for the session starting in 2022-23. This is 4000 more candidates than the number of enrollments for the last year. Part of the reason for the increased number of enrollments is confusion regarding CET ranks.

57,286 students wrote the entrance test conducted by ComedK in June 2022. Of these, 21,108 were from Karnataka and 36,278 were from other states.

CET Ranking Confusion

One of the main reasons for the increase in student enrollments is confusion about the CET ranks. Repeaters fear losing the chance of having their 2021 II PU marks being counted.

ComedK does not take class 12 marks into account. Now does it maintain a count of repeaters? When CET results were announced, the ranking was calculated using only the CET marks while ranks for freshers were determined with CET and class 11/12 scores. This was because the class 12 exams were not held in 2021.

Another Reason For Higher Enrollments

Along with confusion about CET ranking, another reason for the increase in enrollments could be the new-age programs being offered by private colleges in Karnataka. This includes courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning and new variants of computer science. To avoid losing candidates from outside Karnataka who might otherwise have joined private colleges ComedK started their registration process before CET counselling.
