Temple: Aranya Devi Temple
The Aranya Devi Temple is located in Bidar district in North Karnataka. The Goddess of Sakama – Bhakti is Aranya Devi. This temple is built on modern lines.
Aranya Devi Temple– Overview
Devotees visit this temple as most believe that both Goddesses are so powerful that they can fulfil the wishes of the devotee. This temple is adorned with mosaic and marble work.
Aranya Devi Temple– Architecture
The Aranya Devi Temple faces the east and has a round dome. At the entrance of the temple is the courtyard and two verandas are located at the north and west side of the temple. The west veranda has three bells. The west portico also has a charity box, a Shiva Linga and a well.
Aranya Devi Temple– Deities Worshipped
The main deities of the Aranya Devi Temple are the two Aranya Devis. These idols are made of black marble and their throne is roughly ten feet high. The two Aranya Devis are located in the western side of the temple. The priest has a three by three feet space to the west portico. One of the deities is two feet high whereas the other idol is three feet high. The deities are decorated with a tiara or a mukut, garlands and are draped in yellow saris.
On the north side of the Aranya Devi Temple are idols of Radha and Krishna. Statues of Sita, Lakshman, Ram, Shatrughna and Bharat are located on the left side of Radha and Krishna. All these are marble statues.
How to Get to the Aranya Devi Temple
The Aranya Devi Temple is well connected by rail. This temple is just 3.2 km from the Arrah Railway station. You can hire a horse drawn ekkas or a rickshaw from the railway station to the temple.
A devotee may also take a bus through Arrah from Patna to Varanasi. There are daily passenger buses running along this route.
