Want to know unlock 5 guidelines? Well, after the lockdown, the country is gradually opening up the economy. The plan is to open cities gradually wherein the cities with high density of COVID-19 cases remain shut while others reopen for business.

Unlock 5 Guidelines – Activities Allowed
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced guidelines for Unlock 5 while giving states the freedom to set their own standard operating procedures. The guidelines applicable in Karnataka for all areas outside containment zones are:
- Schools and colleges to remain closed till 15th October 2020.
- After October 15th, schools, colleges and coaching institutions may open in a phased manner.
- Online learning is to remain the most preferred mode of teaching and physical attendance is not to be imposed.
- Cinemas, multiplexes ad theatres will be permitted to reopen with 50% seating capacity from October 15th onwards.
- B2B exhibitions may be reopened
- Swimming pools used by sportspersons will be allowed to reopen.
- Entertainment parks will be reopened from October 15th onwards.
- Social, political and religious gatherings of more than 100 people will be permitted.
- Indoor gatherings will be allowed in halls with maximum 50% capacity and a ceiling of 200 people. There is no ceiling on group numbers for outdoor gatherings.
- Face masks are mandatory for all gatherings.
- People not wearing a face mask in urban areas will be fined Rs 1,000 while those in rural areas will be fined Rs 500.
- There will be no restrictions on intra-state and inter-state movement of persons and goods. No separate approvals or permits are required for such movement.
- Children below the age of 10 years, adults over the age of 65 years, pregnant women and people with co-morbidities should ideally stay at home.
Containment zones will continue to maintain strict lockdown till 31st October 2020. States will not be permitted to impose local lockdown in any area outside the containment zone except in consultation with the MHA.
Unlock 5 Guidelines For Individuals
- Face masks must be worn by all individuals in public places, offices and public transport
- Individuals must maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between them and others
- All shoppers must maintain social distancing.
- Spitting in public places is punishable by a fine
- Consumption of paan, gutka, liquor and tobacco in public places is prohibited
Guidelines – Directives For Workplaces
- Employees should work in shifts to limit the number of people present in the office/commercial or industrial establishment at a time.
- Offices must be regularly sanitized between shifts. This includes common spaces, facilities, door handles, etc.
- As far as possible, employees should be allowed to continue working from home.
- All workers must be screened when entering the workplace.
- Handwash facilities and sanitizer must be available at all common areas and entry and exit points
- All people working in the office must follow social distancing norms
- Working hours and lunch breaks must be staggered to reduce the density of people.
Guidelines Directives For Malls
- Only asymptomatic customers to be permitted to enter
- Mall entrances and exits to have thermal screening and sanitizer dispensers
- Shopping malls to reopen only in non-containment zones
- Visitors and workers to use separate entrance and exit points.
- Staff involved in making home deliveries to be screened for body temperature before being allowed to make home deliveries.
- Shoppers to be encouraged to use escalators with only one person per alternate step.
- Gaming arcades, cinema halls and play areas inside the mall to remain shut
- Posters about preventive measures to be taken against COVID-19 should be prominently displayed.
- If possible, visitor entry should be staggered.
- Employees at high risk, i.e., pregnant women and elderly people over the age of 60 years should not be involved in front-line work.
- If valet parking is to be offered, valet drivers must wear masks and gloves and disinfect steering, keys, door handles, etc.
- Marking should be made with adequate distance between them to ensure social distancing.
- Air conditioning devices should be set at 24-30 degrees with relative humidity in the 40-70% range.
- Hand wash, drinking water stations and lavatories to be frequently sanitized.
- Frequently touched surfaces such as door knobs, elevator buttons, benches, handrails, etc. must be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
- Food courts not to have more than 50% seating capacity
- Contactless ordering and payments to be encouraged
- Tables and chairs to be sanitized after each customer leaves
Guidelines Directives For Hotels And Restaurants
- Contactless processes such as online forms, QR code payment, etc. to be adopted and encouraged
- Luggage to be disinfected before being sent to a guest’s room.
- Each room to be disinfected after the guest checks out.
- Face masks to be worn by employees and guests at all times
- Only asymptomatic guests and employees to be allowed to enter
- Room service and takeaway to be encouraged instead of the dining-in service
- Restaurants advised having disposable menus and paper napkins
- Lavatories to be regularly cleaned and deep cleaned at intervals
- Tables and chairs to be sanitized after each customer leaves
Guidelines Directives For Places Of Worship
- Entrances must have provisions for thermal screening and hand sanitization
- Only asymptomatic people to be allowed to enter
- All devotees must wear face masks
- Footwear should ideally be removed inside one’s own vehicle or kept in separate slots outside the premises
- Posters about preventive measures to be taken against COVID-19 should be prominently displayed.
- Air conditioning devices should be set at 24-30 degrees with relative humidity in the 40-70% range.
- Large congregations remain banned
- Devotees to bring their own mats
- Stringent social distancing to be followed in the perpetration and distribution of food through langars and community kitchens.
- No live singing
- Only recorded devotional music to be played
- Devotees cannot touch the idols or religious books
- Offering and receiving Prasad and sprinkling of Holy water prohibited.
