- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age

Step by step procedure to apply for voter ID card in Karnataka
Online method to apply for voter ID card in Karnataka
Step 1: Login to the CEO website of Karnataka
- Visit the website https://voters.eci.gov.in/
- Select the option Apply online for registration of new voter/due to shifting from AC
- Sign up by providing your name, mobile number, and current email id.
- You will receive a temporary username and password to proceed further.
Step 2: Fill up the Form no. 6
- Visit https://voters.eci.gov.in/ once again and log in using the temporary username and password
- Select Form 6 to register for a new voter ID card. Download Form 6.
- Duly fill out Form 6 by providing the required details, such as your name, age, address, etc. Remember that the information you provide must be as per your documents.
- Upload your image and all relevant documents as required in the form.
Step 3: Submit the Form no. 6
- Submit the Form 6 by clicking on the ‘submit’ button.
Offline method to apply for voter ID card in Karnataka
Step 1: Get Form 6
- Visit the Karnataka state election office in your area and get a printed copy of Form 6.
Step 2: Fill up the Form 6
- Fill out Form 6 carefully by providing the relevant details such as your name, age, address, etc.
- Paste your photo in the space provided for the same and sign the completed Form 6
- Gather all the documents that are required for submission along with the Form 6
Step 3: Submit the Form 6
- Visit the Karnataka state election office once again and personally submit Form 6 along with the necessary documents.
How to get The ID card
After you submit the Form no. 6, the officials of the Election Commission will verify the information provided by you in the registration form. For verification of the details, an Electoral Registration officer will visit your place. Once he or she confirms all the details and all official formalities are finished, your voter ID card will be created. You will receive your new voter ID card by post within a few months.
Note:
- One applicant can fill out only one registration form for a voter ID card
- If there is any difficulty in submitting the Form 6 online, you can take a printout of the form and submit it to your nearest Electoral office.
How to Change or Update Information on Your Voter ID Card
Changing or updating details on a voter id card can be done online or offline. This may need to be done if the wrong details are printed on your voter card if you’ve got married and changed your surname if you’ve changed your address etc. Before you get started with the process, you should have the supporting documents necessary to change your voter ID card details. This includes:
- Change in the spelling of your name: Birth certificate/ Aadhar card/ driving license/ passport.
- Change of surname: Copy of marriage certificate
- Change of address: utility bill/ driving license/ passport

- Login to https://voters.eci.gov.in/ with your credentials.
- Correction of entries in the electoral roll

- Procure and fill in form 8A
- Submit the form and supporting documents at the closest Election Commission Office.
Whether you correct your details online or offline, once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed. On acceptance, a new Voter ID card will be mailed to your home address.
How to Delete a Name from the Electoral List in Karnataka
A name may have to be deleted from the electoral lists in the case of the death of the person or if the person’s name appears on more than one electoral list.

- Fill in and submit Form 7
- This form can also be downloaded and submitted to the nearest Election Commission Office.
