Emergency Contact Numbers In Karnataka – State And District Wise List

Karnataka has 30 districts and all 30 of hem have emergency contact and call centres which are set up to help people in needed. Every district has a district level control room to monitor and coordinate the emergency relief works. Besides this control room police control room (100) also functions round the clock.

Major disaster management Initiatives In Karnataka

In Kodagu already a NDRF team has been stationed at the district head quarters. This team has expertise in carrying out the disaster management rescue efforts.

  • The Kodagu district police personnel are trained in the basic relief and rescue operations. Four teams of trained police are stationed.
  • DCs of coastal districts are given satellite phones to get in touch with the state disaster management team in the event of break-down of the mobile network.
  • A dedicated disaster management cell has been set up in the state revenue department with a senior officer as the in-charge officer. The officer has been given the powers to coordinate with the respective district administrations.
  • The state revenue department is operating a centralized control room at the Multi Story building of the Bengaluru. All the rescue and relief works are co-ordinated from here.

Shivamogga

It is one of the major malnad districts of the state. World famous Jog Falls is in this district. Shivamogga is spread over 8477 square kilometres and 1532 villages are part of this district. KA Dayananda is the Deputy Commissioner of Shivamogga

The district has four disaster manager teams. They are:

  1. Epidemics Management Team 
  2. Flood Management Team  
  3. Forest Fire Disaster Management Team 
  4. Industrial Hazard Management Team

Bagalok

This district is spread over 6,593 square kilometres and comprises of 638 villages. 

Ballari

This is the iron ore rich district and called as the iron district of the state. The district is spread over 8,450 square kilometres and comprises 627 villages. V Ramprasath Manohar is the deputy commissioner. World famous Hampi is located in this district.

Belagavi

Belagavi is the biggest districts of the Karnataka and is spread over two Lok Sabha constituencies.

Bengaluru Rural

This district is part of the Bengaluru city today. This district is spread over 2298 square kilometres. It has 1051 villages. Present DC is Kareegowda.

The Bengaluru district has a disaster management team led by DC. His office can be contacted round the clock.

Bengalurun Urban

BM Vijayashankar is the DC of the Bengaluru Urban district which covers the state capital Bengaluru. The district is spread over 2196 square kilometres and comprising 588 villages and 198 BBMP wards.

Bidar

Compared to other districts, Bidar is a small district and it is spread over just 548 square kilometres. It has 621 villages in its fold. Present DC is HR Mahadev.

As per the disaster management plan prepared for the district, DC is the head of the disaster management committee.

Chamarajanagar

This is a green rich, hilly district of the state. It is spread over 5676 square kilometres. It has 428 villages. BB Kaveri is the present DC of the district.

Chikkaballapura

This district is carved out of the Bengaluru Rural district. It is spread over 4244 square kilometres. 1515 villages are the part of this district.  Present DC is Anirudh Sravan P.

Chikkamagaluru

Another green rich district of the state is Chikkamagaluru. This district is famous for the eco-tourism activities and the coffee plantation. The district is spread over 7202 square kilometre and comprises 570 villages.  Present DC is Gautham Bagadi.

Chithraduarga

This district is spread over 8436 square kilometres. It has 1063 villages. Present DC is  R Vinoth Priya. 

Dakshina Kannada

One of the most developed districts of the state is Dakshina Kannada district. Its headquarter is in Mangaluru city which has an airport and harbour. The district is spread over 4859 square kilometres. The district has 331 villages. The district has a Disaster Management Cell at the DC Office.

Davanagere

This district is famous for the butter production, education and the cotton farming. This district is carved out of the Shivamogga and Chitradurga district. The district is spread over 5,924 square kilometres with 932 villages.

Dharwad

Dharwad district comprises of Hubballi city which is considered as the commercial capital of the state. The district is spread over 4263 square kilometres.

Gadag

The district is spread over 4,656 kilometers and it has 337 villages. Present DC is MG Hiremath.

Hassan

This district is called a poor man’s Ooty as it has several tourist spots resembling the Ooty.  The district is spread over 6845 square kilometres with 2,589 villages.

Haveri

This is another district of the state formed recently. This district has been formed after dividing Dharwad district. The district is spread over 4823 square kilometres and comprises 705 villages.

Kalaburugi

One of the biggest districts of the state is Kalaburugi. This district is known for the drought and the cement factories. R Venkatesh Kumar is the present DC of the Kalaburugi.

This district is spread over 10,954 kilometres with 918 villages. The district has a disaster management policy and launched help line for all the major services.

Kodagu

Another hilly and green rich district of the state. This district is spread over 4,102 square kilometres and 296 villages.

Kolar

The district is spread over 4012 square kilometres. It is once famous for the gold mining in KGF. J Manjunath is the present DC of the Kolar. 

Koppal

Historical Aanegondi and the parts of the Hampi fall under this district. The district is spread over 5570 square kilometres. 629 villages are part of this district. The district control room set up for the emergency services is located in the DC office and can be contacted via, 

Mandya

This district is called the sugar cane belt of the state. The world famous KRS dam built across the river Cauvery is located in KR Sagar village of the district. The district is spread over 4961 square kilometres. 1477 villages are part of the district.

Mysore

The tourism capital of the state is Mysuru. It was ruled by the Mysuru rulers. The state of Karnataka was first called as the Mysuru state. The district is spread over 6307 square kilometres and comprises 1344 villages.

Rayachuru

This district is spread over 8386 square kilometres Present DC of the district is B Sharath.  His office can be contacted via.

Ramanagara

This district is one of the newest districts of the Karnataka. The city of Ramanagara become famous following shooting for the Sholay film. Present DC of the Ramanagara is Captain.Dr. K.Rajendra. Ramanagara district is spread over 3559 square kilometres. It has 823 villages.

Tumakuru

The district is spread over 10597 square kilometres. 2715 villages are part of this district.

Udupi

Udupi district is known for its Asta Matas and the Shri Krishna temple. This district is also a coastal district. This district is carved out of the Dakshina Kannada district in the year 1997. The district is spread over 3582 square kilometres and comprising of 267 villages.

Uttara Kannada

This district is also called as the Canara district.  SS Nakul is the DC of the Uttara Kannada. The district is spread over 10291 square kilometres. Kaiga nuclear plant is located in the district. 

Vijapura

Vijayapura district is one of the historic districts of the state.  It is spread over 10498 square kilometres. It has 692 villages. YS Patil is the current Vijayapura DC.

Yadgir

This district is spread over 5234 square kilometres. Compared to the rest of the districts, Yadgir is the youngest district and was formed only in the year 2011. It has 519 villages.
