How to Apply for AADHAAR Card in Karnataka?

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI is a central government agency entrusted with the responsibility to issue Aadhaar card to each resident of the country. Aadhaar card serves as a proof of identity and address across India. It is an effective document to apply for important documents like passport and avail government schemes.

Any individual who is a resident of India and satisfies the verification procedure outlined by the UIDAI can enroll for Aadhaar card, irrespective of age, religion, caste, gender, or geography. The Aadhaar number is unique for each resident and is valid for life. It is linked to a resident’s basic demographic and biometric information such as photograph, fingerprints and iris scans, which are stored in a centralized database.

In Karnataka, the Center for e-Governance (CEG) is one of the registrars responsible for the enrollment of residents for UID project in the state. Mentioned below are the details to apply for Aadhaar card in Karnataka.

Eligibility to apply for Aadhaar card in Karnataka

  • Any resident of India, Non-Resident Indian (NRI) or any foreign citizen residing in India is eligible to apply for Aadhaar card
  • Individuals of any age can apply for Aadhaar number

Note:

  • The enrollment of Aadhaar card is free and voluntary.
  • Aadhaar card enrollment can be done only once.
  • One can apply for Aadhaar card anywhere in India irrespective of his/her state of origin.
  • For a child of lesser than 3 years age, it is not required to provide biometric information and the Aadhaar card will be linked to the parents or guardian of the child. But the child must provide biometric information after reaching the age of 5 years.
  • Any child of age 5 to 15 years who has enrolled for Aadhaar card must re-register for Aadhaar and provide biometric information again on reaching the age of 15 years as biometrics of children change with age.

Documents required for Aadhaar card enrollment in Karnataka

UIDAI accepts 18 Proof of Identity and 33 Proof of Address documents for the Aadhaar card enrollment process. Some of the common documents valid for proof of identity and proof of address are:

  3. Ration / PDS Card
  4. Voter ID
  5. Government Photo ID
  6. NREGS Job Card
  7. Arms License
  8. Photo Bank ATM / Credit Card
  9. Pensioner Card

  11. Kissan Photo Passbook
  12. Address Card having the name and photo issued by department of post

Proof of Address (any one of the following)

  1. Passport
  2. Bank Statement
  3. Passbook
  4. Post Office
  5. Ration Card
  6. Voter ID
  7. Driving License
  8. Water / Electricity / Telephone land line / Property Tax Receipt
  9. Credit Card Statement not older than 3 months
  10. NREGS Job Card

Proof of Date of Birth (any one of the following)

Other Documents

  • If an individual does not have any valid proof of identity or address, he or she can still enroll for Aadhaar card, provided his or her name exists in any family document. In such a case, the head of the family must first get enrolled for Aadhaar with valid documents and then introduce the family member by providing proof of relationship (POR).

How to apply for Aadhaar card in Karnataka?

To enroll for Aadhaar card, one has to physically visit an authorized AADHAAR card enrollment center. There is no provision for enrollment of Aadhaar card online. However, individuals can fix an appointment date and select the enrollment center online.

Process to apply for Aadhaar registration online

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI online registration in Karnataka and get the appointment form online.
  • Fill in the required details such as name, email id, and phone number.
  • Select the enrollment center as well as the date and time of the appointment.

Process to enroll for Aadhaar card at any enrollment center in Karnataka

  • Download the Aadhaar enrollment form from https://uidai.gov.in/ or https://ceg.karnataka.gov.in/aadhaar/public/english and take a print out of the form. You can also get the enrollment form from any authorized Aadhaar enrollment center in Karnataka.
  • Fill in the details carefully.
  • Visit your chosen enrollment center or any authorized Aadhaar enrollment center in Karnataka along with your valid proof of identity and proof of address and the completely filled-in enrollment form.
  • You will have to provide your fingerprints and iris scan and get yourself photographed at the enrollment center.
  • Once you submit the form along with the relevant documents, you will be given an acknowledgment slip with a temporary enrollment number and your biometric details captured at the center. Keep the acknowledgment slip safely as you will need the details if you ever print a duplicate Aadhaar card online.

How to get Aadhaar card

  • After submission of your enrollment form, your details will be verified centrally.
  • On successful verification of your details, you will receive an SMS and/or email notification informing you about the same.
  • You will get your printed Aadhaar card via post within a few days. The usual processing time for Aadhaar Card is 60 to 90 days, but sometimes it may take a bit longer.
  • If any issues arise during verification of your details, appropriate correction measures will be taken by the concerned authorities or a rejection letter will be dispatched to you through post asking you to re-enrol.
