Gadag
A place of historical importance, Gadag lies in the state of Karnataka in India. This place is famous for its ancient Hindu and Jain temples and medieval architecture. This district came into being in the year 1997 having split from the district of Dharwad and the place is popular for its printing and handloom industry. The influence of the Western Chalukyan Empire can be seen in the spiritual and cultural practices of this place. Constructed between the 10th and 12th century by the Kings of Chalukyan Empire, the Trikuteshewara Temple is famous for its style of architecture and the temple has three Shivalingas carved out of a single rock.

The Veeranarayana Temple constructed during 1117 CE has the style of architecture influenced by the Chalukya, Hoysala and Vijayanagara empires. The Archaeological Survey of India has declared this as a protected monument. The Magadi Bird Sanctuary which has 134 species of birds attracts tourists and nature lovers from around the globe. A perfect example of Mughal architecture, the Jumma Masjid built in 1675 by Aurangazeb is a place worth visiting. The beautiful temple tank Naga Kunda is also quite popular among tourists. Some of the other spots worth seeing in this area are the Brahma Jinalaya – a Jain Temple, the Basaveshwara Statue, the Dambala Temple complex, and the Dattatraya Temple.
