Indira Priyadarshini Law College is one of the premiere institutes to study law in Bangalore. The college strives to give the best in law education and all round development. It is affiliated to Bangalore University and has the approval of the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. Since its foundation around nine batches have passed with graduates placed in every legal profession including Judicial and Non Judicial.
The Institute follows Karnataka state’s guidelines for admissions. The OBC, SC/ST and other candidates belonging to the reserved category can avail of reservation benefits during the admission.
This college in Bangalore was founded in the year 1993-94 with the three year law degree course on offer. The founder of the Institute Shri Halli Hanumathappa is himself is a law scholar with a M.phil in Intellectual Property rights and also holds a Masters degree in Economics.
This law college in Bangalore comes under the trust of Pragathi Vidya Samstha which was established in the year 1984-85 and is registered under the Karnataka Society Act.
Courses Offered
The courses offered include the much sought after five years integrated law program. Also on offer is the three year degree program which can be pursued after graduating in any discipline. This program specializes in the field of law and does not diverse into any other humanities subjects.
The subjects include Constitutional law, Criminal procedure code, Banking Law, Contract 1 and 2, Civil Procedure code, Law of evidence, Law of crimes and Legal theory.
Infrastructural Facilities
The law college is equipped with a library well furnished with the latest books, journals, case studies of various courts, international journals, AIR Manuals, ILR etc. Library would be open on all working days except on Sundays between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Students are free to borrow any book from the library for a maximum period of 15 days.
The college also has a separate Moot court where students can learn the techniques and procedures followed in a real court of law. A Moot Court is designed for law students so that they can learn to get acquainted with the process and method adapted by lawyers to present a case in a usual court of law (High Court/ District Court).
Hostel facilities would be provided to Girls and Boys on campus by the Institute. The facilities would be separate and security would be ensured to all students. Students would be required to carry ID cards at all times. The ID cards would be issued by the institute and would be invalid without the signature of the principal. If a candidate loses his or her card, they can get a duplicate card issued at a payment of Rs 100. Access to campus would be denied to students who are not carrying their ID cards.
Extra- curricular activities are also encouraged and promoted by the College. The College promotes the National Service Scheme which is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The work of the participating students is recognized by issuing certificates after the camp is over.
The college also has thriving sports vicinity for Indoor and Outdoor games such as chess, carom, cricket, football etc. For training the students, physical trainers and coaches have been taken on board.
