CET Cutoff Rank For Engineering & Medical Colleges 2014

Medicine and Engineering have traditionally been the most covetable graduate and postgraduate courses in India. The popularity of these courses dates back to the time India was ruled by the British. In terms of education, Karnataka is a preferred destination with a number of engineering and medical colleges.

Engineering Colleges in Karnataka

As of 2014 there are a total of 192 Engineering colleges in Karnataka. This includes 12 Government run colleges, 9 Government aided colleges, 152 Private colleges, 17 Private minority colleges and 3 deemed colleges.

Along with students from across the state, these colleges also attract students from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Medical Colleges in Karnataka

There are 46 colleges in Karnataka that are recognized for an MBBS degree. These colleges offer a total of 6,755 seats. Like the engineering colleges in the state, these medical colleges attract students from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra among other states.

Cut Off Rank 2014

Each year, the race for merit seats in Engineering and Medical colleges in Karnataka gets more and more difficult. To get a seat, students must first sit for the CET and COMEDK exams. Merely passing the exam does not guarantee a seat.

On the basis of their results, they are awarded a rank. This rank determines the colleges that will offer them a seat. At some colleges even being ranked amongst the top 100 in the state does not guarantee a seat.
