A bird’s eye view of the Vijayanagara Utsava
At the Vijayanagara Utsava, explore the fascinating exhibits and harken to the enlightening talks of the glory of the rich culture and heritage of the erstwhile Vijayanagara empire. In addition, take delight in the mellifluous classical music honouring Sangeeta Pitamaha Sri Purandaradasaru at the Purandaradasa Mantapa, Hampi, on 9th and 10th February 2024. However, the exhibit will remain open at Heere Deewan, Anegundi, on the 9th and 10th of February 2024.
A regal show of heritage, culture, art and more
The exhibits at the Vijayanagara Utsava feature weapons, artefacts, textiles, utensils, etc., which will expose the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire. Furthermore, renowned historians and scholars will speak on the various aspects of the empire. The talks will be based on heritage, architecture, textiles, art and polity. Another interesting aspect of the Utsava is the launch of the Devaraya Heritage Weaves, which will feature the traditional handloom inspired by the Queen’s wardrobe. Also, art forms like Silambam and Togalugumbe Aata will interest the onlookers.
The puppet show, ‘Vijayanagara Vaibhava’, will amuse the audience. It is performed by Padma Shri Smt. Anupama Hoskere, the director of the Dhaatu Puppet Theatre, Bengaluru. Also, the princess of Travancore and Padma Shri awardee, H.H. Princess Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bayi, will be gracing the occasion. She is invited as a special guest to enhance the ancient bond between the royal families of the Aravidu (Vijayanagara empire) and Venad (Travancore kingdom)
